LiDAR Camera: Night camera1.4.0 - App Store

A camera for dark places. On an iPhone or iPad with a LiDAR Scanner (and on Face ID devices through the front TrueDepth camera) it shows a depth view that works in total darkness. On any device it brightens the live camera with night-vision style looks and records video with the look applied.

THIS IS NOT REAL NIGHT VISION
An iPhone has no infrared or thermal sensor an app can use. Thermal, Infrared and Arctic are colour looks, not heat or infrared imaging. Without LiDAR the camera needs some light.

FREE AND PRO
Free, with ads: 8 looks, 15 photos a day and video recording. Every Pro feature is open for the first 7 days. After that, free exports are limited to 2 saves or shares in total, at half size with a watermark. Pro (subscription or one-time purchase) removes ads and limits and adds 4 more looks, the distance readout, timer, scope overlays, manual ISO and shutter, before/after compare, photo stamp, custom watermark, photo import and a silent mode.

GOOD TO KNOW
. The LiDAR view needs an iPhone or iPad Pro with a LiDAR Scanner. Depth is low resolution: it shows shapes and distance, not faces or text.
. In the depth views a photo is saved as the screen shows it, and the video is silent (no microphone feed).
. Works offline. The internet is used only for ads and purchases.

• On an iPhone or iPad Pro the app now opens straight into the real LiDAR depth view: the rainbow distance map, drawn from the scanner and not from the camera. A previous update had quietly turned LiDAR mode into a low-light color filter, so switching between LiDAR and Normal made no visible difference. The reviewers who reported that were right.
• Because the depth view is drawn from the scanner, it needs no light at all. In a completely dark room you see the shape of the room, not a black frame.
• The pure LiDAR depth view is free again. It was free when the app launched and it should never have moved behind the paywall.
• The distance readout no longer says "Too close" in the dark. It now ignores the low-confidence readings the scanner returns in darkness, which is what dragged the measurement down to a few centimeters.
• Phones with Face ID but no rear LiDAR Scanner can use the depth views with the front camera, with the colors scaled to that camera's range.
